Jacques, graduated in Economics from the Catholic University of Louvain (Belgium) and did his Doctoral work in social anthropology at the University of São Paulo (Brazil). Jacques is conducting Research at the Centro de Estudos das Américas of the Cândido Mendes University in Rio de Janeiro, and has authored or co-authored several books on race relations in Brazil e.g.: "Pluralismo Étnico e Multiculturalismo" (Pallas 2001) and Racismo, Preconceito e Intolerância (Atual 2002). He is a member of the Affirmative Action Studies Network and sits on the Advisory Board of Africana: the Encyclopedia of the African and African American Experience
